mo|lyb|de|num «muh LIHB duh nuhm, MOL ihb DEE-», noun.
a heavy, hard, grayish or silver-white metallic chemical element. Molybdenum can be hammered or pressed into various shapes without being broken, but fuses with difficulty, and occurs in combination, as in molybdenite or wulfenite. It is much used to strengthen and harden steel alloys.
